Modelling pollution transport dynamics and mixing in square manhole overflows

چکیده
Detailed knowledge of the dynamic interactions between incoming sewerage and an overflowing manhole, resulting pollutant concentrations from manhole flooding, are critical for robust design operations wastewater infrastructures, especially during extreme climatic events. This study investigates mixing dispersion solute in square overflow using laboratory tracer experiment analytical modelling. Tests conducted with three flow rates to examine characteristics over a wide range operational conditions. Two scenarios including blocked pipe exit, combination exit studied. The Residence Time Distributions (RTD) longitudinal coefficients determined understand transport. analysis fluorometric data show appropriateness robustness deconvolution model adopted this determining RTDs (R2 > 0.95). Similarly, Taylor's was shown be capable predicting advective dispersive mechanisms within conditions tested study. New empirical predictive formulae derived characterize manholes under different

Modelling of Sediment Transport in Beris Fishery Port
In this paper, the large amount of sedimentation and the resultant shoreline advancements at the breakwaters of Beris Fishery Port are studied. A series of numerical modeling of waves, sediment transport, and shoreline changes were conducted to predict the complicated equilibrium shoreline. The outputs show that the nearshore directions of wave components are not perpendicular to the coast whic...
متن کاملOn the Efficient Treatment of Vertical Mixing and Chemistry in Air Pollution Modelling
Reaction-Advection-Diffusion problems occurring in Air Pollution Models have very stiff reaction terms and moderately stiff vertical mixing (diffusion and cloud transport) terms which both should be integrated implicitly in time. Standard implicit time stepping is by far too expensive for this type of problems whereas widely used splitting techniques may lead to unacceptably large errors for fa...
متن کاملInvestigating Fluid Mixing in Electro-Osmotic Flow Through Passive Micro-Mixers Having Square and Triangle Barriers
Objective: In this article, a numerical study is conducted on mixing of two fluids in the liquid phase with two different concentrations of a chemical species in the electro-osmotic flow. Methods: The base liquid is an electrolyte which flows in a two-dimensional micro-channel having electrically charged walls. Lorentz electric force, which is used as stimulating flow factor, is created by appl...

متن کاملMixing Time for Square Tilings
We consider tilings of Z by two types of squares. We are interested in the rate of convergence to the stationarity of a natural Markov chain defined for square tilings. The rate of convergence can be represented by the mixing time which measures the amount of time it takes the chain to be close to its stationary distribution. We prove polynomial mixing time for n× logn regions in the case of ti...
